Reporting | Impact

Images, video and accompanying narratives are powerful tools for celebrating what organisations do and the communities they support - but they are also key methods for evidencing provision outcomes.

My approach to candid and discrete documentary style photography provides an effective way of capturing community and charitable activities to demonstrate impact.

Approaches creatively and sensitively encapsulated through visuals and words also help to attract social interest, highlight common values, and drive engagement through communications and marketing channels. This in turn has the potential to build support, understanding and empathy both within and across communities.

Case Study: Community Led Local Development in Moray. 2022-23.

Commission by tsiMORAY to support the impact reporting of Moray Local Action Group.

Through interviews and portraits, I captured the voices of those in Moray who are committed to making community led local development a reality, helping to tackle the climate crisis and support a just transition to a carbon neutral future. These images formed the foundation of a website I subsequently developed for the group, which puts people, place and social networks at the forefront of its communication strategy.

Case Study: Highlands and Islands Climate Festival. September 2023.

Commission by Highlands and Islands Climate Hub to provide event photography and documentation of the Highlands and Islands Climate Festival, running throughout September 2023.

My brief was to showcase several key events during the Festival which saw individuals and organisations across the region gather together to share ideas, network and address the transition to net zero. The images supported their social media activity and impact reporting for their funders, including the Scottish Government.

Commission to provide event photography at Roots Festival, hosted by Vivid Roots Collective.

Supported by Creative Scotland and held at the Spectrum Centre in Inverness, Roots Festival was the first ever theatre festival for Highland and emerging theatre-makers, which also featured several scratch performances from young. Working with Director Laura Walker, I was briefed to capture the essence of the two days of workshops and networking, while provide high quality photography from two evening performances to support their social media and impact reporting.
